Inspired by the works of hungarian artist Balasz Kicsny, An Experiment In Navigation explores the potential of interstitial sounds.

Both guitarists, Xabier Iriondo and I had been talking about working together for a long time until the occasion arised for a recording session during which we decided to exclusively use sounds produced by electric string instruments (electric guitars and Xabier's self-made Mahai Metak). 

 The recording provided the sound material for an editing and sound processing exercise which privileged accidental sounds and errors as the driving element of the compositions. 

The album has been released by Die Schachtel in 2010 as part of the Musica Improvvisa boxset.

In a live format An Experiment In Navigation has collaborated with Steve Noble, Roland Ramanan and Alan Wilkinson.
